Project Bandloop performers dangle, dance off building walls | Arts & Culture
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
Project Bandaloop performers gave the public a free glimpse of tomorrow night's performance with a 20-minute outdoor rehearsal on Thursday at noon. Two groups of three performers each were lowered from the roof of the Alys Stephens Center by harnesses and ropes, and danced using the side of the building as a platform and springboard for their graceful, gravity-defying moves.
"Inspired by the possibilities of climbing and rappelling, the choreography draws on aerial, vertical, and horizontal movement to craft site-specific dances," a description of Project Bandaloop says on the Alys Stephens Center website. "The work explores the relationship between movement and gravity and stimulates viewers' awareness of their natural and built environments."
The full Project Bandaloop performance will be held Friday, Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m. and will include both outdoor and indoor settings. Visit the Alys Stephens Center website for details and to buy tickets.
