4 suspects arrested for attempted murder in Dolomite shooting | News

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC)- Birmingham detectives have taken four suspects into custody on attempted murder charges.
Police say the arrests are connected to a shooting that happened in the 3600 block of South Street in Dolomite on Saturday, Aug. 11 around 6:30 p.m.
West Precinct officers who responded to the scene found a victim with a gunshot wound to the face. According to police, the victim's injuries are not life-threatening.
Officers say the four suspects went to the 3600 block of South Street and started to shoot at the victim. One of the victim's relatives shot back at the suspects in an attempt to protect the victim. One of the bullets fired from the relatives struck a suspect in the foot.
The suspect who was shot was treated at a hospital then taken into custody. Investigators identified the other three suspects and arrested them. Police did not say which suspect was shot in the foot.
The following suspects were arrested and charged with attempted murder:
-Marquis Dontae Bell, 24, of Fairfield,
-Markell Bell, 19, of Birmingham
-Destony Bowers, 24, of Birmingham
-Pierre Smith, 20, of Birmingham
Sgt. Johnny Williams with Birmingham Police confirms that Marquis and Markell Bell are brothers. He said suspect Pierre Smith was also charged and acquitted of capital murder in a 2008 double fatal shooting at the now-closed Banana Joe's nightclub.
Each of the suspects has a bond set at $60,000. They are in custody of the Jefferson County Jail.
Police say the victim, whose identity is not being released, is recovering from the shooting.
