HOOVER, AL (WBRC)- A piece of history is coming to an end at Regions Park. The Birmingham Barons played, and won, their final game in Hoover this afternoon.
The Barons finished their season with a 5-1 victory over the Chattanooga Lookouts, bringing their record to 63-76. Including today's attendance, the Barons have played for more than seven million fans in the past 25 years.
For Barons fan Garland Reeves, the move back to Birmingham is just a part of the journey.
"Well, we follow this, the Barons from stadium to stadium, like I said, we were at the last game at Rickwood Field, and the first game here, so we wanted to the be at the last one here, and we'll be the first in the new stadium. So we're excited about the new stadium, I think it's going to be great," Garland Reeves said.
Garland's son Rhett is also moving through a journey that began when he was very young, and he's a bit sad to see the Barons move.
