Ten students from four different Birmingham City Schools had the chance to watch the 57th Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D.C. from the National Mall today.

The students from W.J. Christian Elementary, L.M. Middle School, and Huffman Middle and High schools were selected for the trip because of their academic achievements and community leadership.

In addition to the inauguration, the students and their chaperones also planned to tour the Kennedy Center, the Smithsonian National Museum of African Arts and the MLK Memorial Monument.

The students left on Friday, Jan. 18 and are expected back in Birmingham Tuesday morning.
