Parts of west Birmingham showed signs of storm damage after severe weather moved through the area early Monday morning.

An area just off Finley Boulevard suffered damage to buildings, downed trees and downed power lines. Insulation was seen stuck in the trees and roofing shingles and other debris were strewn across lawns.

One homeowner said he saw what appeared to be a small tornado as he was leaving his home around 4:45 a.m. Monday.
